MIVA SSL

How do I configure my store to use SSL for secure orders?

The following article explains how to configure a MIVA Merchant storefront to use SSL to secure online transactions. You have the option of using our shared SSL certificate or your own private certificate. The shared SSL certificate is configured for you by default. If you purchase your own private SSL certificate you will need to update the storefront with the new secure URL.

Some examples of secure URL paths include the following:

To configure your SSL settings, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into the MIVA Merchant Admin section located at http://store.domainname.com/merchant2/admin.mvc. If this address does not work, you may need to use http://domainname.com/merchant2/admin.mvc. Older MIVA Merchant stores were configured with this address.
  2. Click Domain Settings.
  3. Click Site Configuration from the menu.
  4. Enter the necessary information:
Note: use either the shared SSL or the private certificate name in place of www.domainname.com.
    • Secure URL to MIVA Merchant: enter https://www.domainname.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc
    • Secure URL to MIVA Merchant Admin: enter https://www.domainname.com/merchant2/admin.mvc?
    • Secure Base URL for Graphics: enter https://www.domainname.com/merchant2/
    • Secure Root Directory for Modules: enter /merchant2/
  5. Click Update.

Test your storefront. The following screens should display securely with a small lock located in the bottom of your browser screen:
