How do I add an alias domain name for my website?

The following article explains how to add an alias to a domain name. An alias is an additional name used to access a website that appears in front of the domain name. For example, “www” is a common alias given to domain names.

To add an alias for your website, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser window and go to www.HostMySite.com
  2. Click on Control Panel Login.
  3. Log into the Control Panel as one of the following:
    • Account Administrator and select the appropriate domain
    • Technical Contact for the domain
  4. Click on Domain Name Administration and select DNS Administration.
  5. If you have more than one domain, select the appropriate domain name from the list shown. If you have a large number of domain names, you can use the search feature or click Click here to see a list of all your domains.

Basic DNS Administrator

  1. Select Basic DNS Administration.
  2. Select Add an alias to my website.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the name for the alias.
  5. Click Submit.

Advanced DNS Administrator

  1. Select Advanced DNS Administration.
  2. Click Add Record to yourdomainname.com.
  3. Select CNAME (Alias).
  4. Enter a name for the alias and the domain name where you want it to point.
  5. Click Add Record.
