How do I update my MX record for my Exchange only hosting account?

The following article explains how to update the MX record for your Exchange only hosting account. The MX record will need to point to If your DNS records are hosted by HostMySite, you can update the MX record through our Control Panel. If not, you will need to update your MX record manually.

To update your MX record, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser window and go to
  2. Click on Control Panel Login.
  3. Log into the Control Panel as one of the following:
    • Account Administrator and select the appropriate domain
    • Technical Contact for the domain
  4. Click on Domain Name Administration and select DNS Administration.
  5. If you have more than one domain, select the appropriate domain name from the list shown. If you have a large number of domain names, you can use the search feature or click Click here to see a list of all your domains.

Basic DNS Administrator

  1. Select Basic DNS Administration.
  2. Select Not using HostMySite's mailservers? and click Next.
  3. Select Domain Name.
  4. Enter
  5. Click Submit.

Advanced DNS Administrator

  1. Select Advanced DNS Administration.
  2. Click Update next to the MX record.
  3. Enter
  4. Click Update.
