How do I create a new email account with the SmarterMail interface?
The following article explains how to create a new email account through the SmarterMail interface. New accounts may be created by the root user only. Once the account is created, users can begin sending and receiving email.
To create new email accounts, please follow these steps:
- Open a browser window and go to one of the following URLs:
- http://mail#.safesecureweb.com (this address is provided in the setup email)
- Login as firstname.lastname@example.org with the password supplied in your setup email.
- From the Settings menu select Email Accounts.
- Click Add User.
- Enter the necessary information.
- Username: enter the name of the user, not the full email address. For example, "sales" would be the username for email@example.com
- New Password: enter the password for this user.
- Confirm Password: re-enter the password for this user for verification.
- Click Save.
The remaining information on the 'Add User' screen is not required and can be entered at your leisure. For detailed information about each feature, you can view the SmarterMail support documentation by clicking on the 'Help' menu in the upper right corner of the SmarterMail Interface.
Note: You can access this email account by logging in the same way you did as root except you will use the new email address, firstname.lastname@example.org.
